An Opening Reflection

For many years this website has been unused except for that as a test site; it has been neglected of offering any written material for consumption for a myriad of good and valid reasons. This renaissance of sorts is intended to focus on my nearly fifty-year study of The URANTIA Book and how it has affected my thinking about God, the universe, and the world. The idea of Route 66 as the "mother road," famously described by John Steinbeck, connects deeply to the opening reflection of the website by symbolizing a journey of discovery, transformation, revival, and progressive growth.

Just as Route 66 served as a vital artery for those seeking a new life and a sense of belonging during the Dust Bowl era, this website embarks on a renaissance of intellectual and spiritual exploration. Like Steinbeck's nostalgia for the old road, I am rekindling a past exploration of ideas, now renewed to hopefully influence others in their search for meaning in an increasingly complex world.

What caught my attention sometime in the early 1970's, almost at the same time as I came upon the URANTIA Book, was Alvin Toffler's ideas about how human society evolved against large waves of functional change. Toffler illustrated this elegantly in his book The Third Wave. The idea of a "FOURTH WAVE" is my integration of reflecting on the supernal revelations The URANTIA Book discloses regarding the origin, history, and destiny of our planet which, for me, ‘cosmicize’ Toffler's wave theory. ...

The URANTIA Papers

The URANTIA Book is an anthology of 196 papers that has no human composer. However, it was published in 1955 by humans who provided feedback to the celestial authors between 1921 and 1942 to earlier drafts. I have no doubt it constitutes the most recent epochal revelation to this planet; it is unique among epochal revelations in that it is the joint creation of spiritual and material beings. Epochal revelations are reported to be derlivered solely by celestial personalities. The revelators tell us ...

The Father-Infinite

The last eleven words in the final paper of The Urantia Book is "the Father idea is still the highest human concept of God." 196:3.35 (2097.3). The apparent boldness of that statement after reading and studying the sublime concepts the fifth epochal revelation delivers to anyone willing to cultivate qualities of courageous and independent cosmic thinking almost seems like an affront of one's innate mental capabilities. ...

The Supreme Being

The Supreme Being is an entirely new concept that the authors of The Urantia Book reveal to us. They have told us about a finite, evolutionary, experiential, eternal god who does not equate to God the Father as conventional usage dictates. We must grapple with the fact that the compound term “The Supreme” (with a capital letter) appears 632 times in the 2097 pages of The Urantia Book, including 156 cases in which the term “Being” is appended. The approximately...

Life Carriers - Gaia

Lovelock's GAIA hypothesis, now an acceptable scientific theory, sets the stage, I believe, for a full-blown study of the Life Carriers as revealed in the URANTIA Book. (Actually the story of the Life Carriers informed me to do a full-blown study of Lovelock's GAIA hypothesis!). If you click on the "Read More" button, the essay is actually a response to a critique of a fellow UB student and colleague who said I am "misled" and that “atheistic implications seem to permeate the theory.” ...

Universe Cosmogony to Adam & Eve

The URANTIA Book's Adam & Eve story affords: 1) For UB students, an authoritative rendition of how thirty seven thousand years ago from 1935 “Adam’s contribution to the biologic status of the races, notwithstanding the partial failure of the undertaking, enormously upstepped the people of URANTIA” [78:1.1 (868.3)]; 2) for secular scientists and agnostics a basis for further predictions, avenues of study, and progressive hypotheses/theories, and 3) for atheists, materialists, and natural philosophers, a reflective constellation of facts and insights to render a palpable consideration of their belief of the apparent implausibility any relationship between science and religion. ...

Worship

TThis is a decades-old paper I wrote for a summer study session in Chicago in 2010. Worship has a rich formulation in The URANTIA Book. This paper explores the enhanced and augmented revelation found throughout The URANTIA Book papers which leavens beyond that which is conventionally and traditionally considered worship ...

Life and Mind on URANTIA

T he following diagram will be followed soon with textual detail. For now, the depiction of how life has been established and evolved on URANTIA is a thing of exquisite cosmic beauty.   I have cross-referenced the various revelatory statements that point to the nexus beteween mechanical life and "vitalistic" life. Premind life, while under the aegis of the Master Physical Controllers, eventually gives way to the Adjutant Mind Spirits. Mind has the same rubric: "Living mind, prior to the appearance of capacity to learn from experience, is the ministry domain of the Master Physical Controllers. Creature mind, before acquiring the ability to recognize divinity and worship Deity, is the exclusive domain of the adjutant spirits. With the appearance of the spiritual response of the creature intellect, such created minds at once become superminded ..."

The Master Seraphim

TThe presentation of the master seraphim in Paper 114 of the URANTIA Book, appears to be "new" epochal revelation. That is, a heretofore unknown disclosure of an order of the existence of a class of angels that provide special overarching service to an evolving planet. The master seraphim are resident on URANTIA working to assist the spiritual administration of the planet. They work entirely in the background as "ideational clearinghouses, mind focalizers, and project promoters" to promote the progressive growth of society and civilization. Read my paper published in the summer Herald of 2014 to gain an appreciation of how we humans might work with them. ...

Holarchies

At some intellectual inflection point in my study of the URANTIA Papers, specifically those that define the process by which God (actually, the I AM) has structured the master universe, it occured to me that a "holarchy" is a more appropriate depiction of how He organizes His universe. The pervasive characteristic of hierarchies is the paradox of the terms ‘part’ and ‘whole’. But, wholes and parts in an absolute sense just plainly do not exist, neither in living organisms nor in social organizations. What actually exists are sub-wholes which simultaneously display characteristics of both wholes and parts. Managing performance in the holknowledge driven organization will require the understanding of “holarchy” (Koestler 1989). I wrote about this in 1998 in the World Business Academy journal. ...
